The New Efectiv ALPHA Formula: What Has Changed?

Efectiv ALPHA has been reformulated.

The original eight-ingredient formula combined KSM-66® Ashwagandha with Fadogia Agrestis, Horny Goat Weed, shilajit, elevATP®, boron, zinc and vitamin D3.

The new ALPHA retains several of its core ingredients but takes a broader approach. It combines four botanical extracts with eight selected vitamins and minerals, creating a fully disclosed 12-ingredient formula for active men.

Here is exactly what has changed.

What has stayed the same?

600mg KSM-66® Ashwagandha

KSM-66® Ashwagandha remains at the centre of ALPHA.

Both versions provide 600mg per daily serving. The new formula continues to use the branded root extract, standardised to contain 5% withanolides.

Keeping the same amount means existing ALPHA users still receive the familiar, fully disclosed 600mg serving.

300mg Shilajit Extract

Shilajit also remains unchanged at 300mg per serving.

ALPHA continues to use a concentrated 10:1 extract, maintaining one of the main botanical components from the original formula.

2,000 IU Vitamin D3

The amount of vitamin D3 remains at 2,000 IU, equivalent to 50µg.

Vitamin D contributes to normal muscle function and the normal function of the immune system.

10mg Zinc - with a different form

Both formulas provide 10mg of zinc, equivalent to 100% of the daily Nutrient Reference Value.

The source has changed. The original formula used zinc L-aspartate, while the new formula uses zinc bisglycinate, a more bioavailable form that digests easier.

Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood, as well as normal fertility and reproduction.

What has been removed?

Fadogia Agrestis

The original ALPHA contained 500mg of Fadogia Agrestis.

However, a clear history of significant food consumption before the May 1997 cut-off has not been established for Fadogia extracts, and Fadogia does not appear on the current GB register of authorised novel foods.

A 2025 European novel-food status assessment also concluded that a 10:1 Fadogia Agrestis extract should be considered novel because there was insufficient evidence of significant pre-1997 food consumption. Although this is an EU assessment rather than a separate GB authorisation, it highlights the same underlying compliance concern.

Fadogia was therefore removed to give the new formula a clearer and more defensible route to market in Great Britain.

This does not necessarily mean that Fadogia has been officially declared unsafe. It means that the evidence required to support its lawful use as a conventional GB food-supplement ingredient is currently insufficient.

Horny Goat Weed

The original formula also contained 500mg of Horny Goat Weed, described as an Epimedium extract standardised to 10% icariins.

The regulatory position of Epimedium can depend on the species, plant part and extraction method. A previous European status assessment determined that an extract from Epimedium brevicornum leaves should be treated as a novel food because significant food use before May 1997 could not be demonstrated.

UK regulatory material also records Epimedium sagittatum as having medicinal use but no recorded food use. In addition, the ASA warns that claims connecting Horny Goat Weed with sexual function or erectile dysfunction are likely to be considered medicinal. An unlicensed food supplement cannot be advertised as treating or modifying those functions.

Because the previous ALPHA label did not identify a precise Epimedium species and carried a concentrated extract, retaining it would create avoidable uncertainty around both novel-food status and medicinal presentation.

Removing Horny Goat Weed gives the new formula a clearer food-supplement position and reduces the risk of the product being associated with claims that cannot lawfully be made for an unlicensed supplement.

What has been added?

500mg Fenugreek Seed Extract

Fenugreek seed extract is the most significant new botanical addition.

Each serving provides a fully disclosed 500mg dose. Fenugreek, or Trigonella foenum-graecum, is a botanical commonly used in men’s performance formulations.

The new label does not state a saponin standardisation, so ALPHA describes it accurately as a concentrated fenugreek seed extract without attaching unsupported health outcomes to the ingredient.

100mg Grape Seed Extract

The new formula adds 100mg of grape seed extract.

This expands the botanical side of the product without introducing another proprietary blend. As with every active ingredient in ALPHA, the exact serving amount is clearly shown on the label.

75mg Magnesium

Magnesium is a completely new addition, with each serving providing 75mg from magnesium bisglycinate.

That supplies 20% of the daily Nutrient Reference Value. Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function, normal energy-yielding metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

18mg Pantothenic Acid

The new ALPHA provides 18mg of pantothenic acid, equivalent to 300% of the daily Nutrient Reference Value.

Pantothenic acid contributes to normal mental performance and normal energy-yielding metabolism.

Vitamin B6 as P-5-P

Each serving now contains 2.8mg of vitamin B6 in the form of pyridoxal-5-phosphate, commonly shortened to P-5-P.

This provides 200% of the daily Nutrient Reference Value. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, normal energy-yielding metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

55µg Selenium

The reformulated product adds 55µg of selenium as L-selenomethionine, providing 100% of the daily Nutrient Reference Value.

Selenium contributes to normal spermatogenesis and the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

25µg Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is another new addition. Each serving provides 25µg as methylcobalamin, equivalent to 1,000% of the daily Nutrient Reference Value.

Vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

How has the overall formula changed?

The original ALPHA was primarily a botanical-led formula. Five of its eight listed actives were botanical or branded performance ingredients.

The reformulated ALPHA takes a broader approach:
  • Four fully disclosed botanical extracts.
  • Eight selected vitamins and minerals.
  • 12 listed active ingredients in total.
  • Specific mineral and vitamin forms shown on the label.
  • 30 daily servings.

The biggest change is therefore not simply the replacement of one ingredient. ALPHA has moved from a narrower eight-ingredient blend to a broader men’s daily formula with more substantial micronutrient support.

Zinc provides an authorised benefit for the maintenance of normal testosterone levels. Vitamin B6 supports normal hormonal activity, while magnesium and vitamins B6 and B12 help reduce tiredness and fatigue.

Have the serving size and directions changed?

The serving size remains four capsules per day, with 120 capsules and 30 servings in every container.

However, the recommended timing has changed. We now recommend to take 4 capsules at any time of the day, rather than splitting the dosage into 2 seperate daily servings. This is after customer feedback showed us the timing of the usage was less important than consistency.

Is the new formula better?

“Better” depends on what you want from the product.

The original formula placed greater emphasis on ingredients such as Fadogia Agrestis, Horny Goat Weed and S7®. The new formula removes those ingredients and introduces fenugreek, grape seed extract and a much wider selection of vitamins and minerals.

What can be said objectively is that the new ALPHA:
  • Contains more individually listed active ingredients.
  • Provides broader vitamin and mineral coverage.
  • Retains the same amounts of KSM-66®, shilajit, zinc and vitamin D3.
  • Uses a new source of zinc.
  • Includes authorised nutrient support for normal testosterone levels, hormonal activity, muscle function and energy metabolism.

The new Efectiv ALPHA

The reformulated ALPHA retains the foundations existing users will recognise while introducing a wider nutritional profile.

You still get 600mg KSM-66® Ashwagandha, 300mg shilajit extract, 10mg zinc and 2,000 IU vitamin D3.

These are now joined by fenugreek, grape seed extract, magnesium, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, selenium and vitamin B12.

The result is a transparent 12-ingredient formula built for active men who want to know exactly what is in every serving.

120 capsules. 30 servings. Four capsules daily. No hidden proprietary blend.
